A structural steel beam connects to a girder web using an L6x4x3/8 angle aligned flush with the girder web and welded with a five-sixteenth-inch fillet weld. Five seven-eighth-inch diameter high-strength bolts attach the angle to the W21 beam, and four seven-eighth-inch diameter high-strength bolts secure it to the W18 girder. A three-eighth-inch stiffener plate aligns with the leg of the angle and is welded to the web with one-quarter-inch fillet welds. A composite metal deck bears above with a one-inch clearance, referencing sheet S6.04 for connection details.
