A structural steel beam frames into the web of a supporting wide-flange girder using a typical shear tab plate connection. The three-eighths-inch thick plate connects to the girder web and features a two-inch clearance gap while bearing directly on the bottom flange. Five-sixteenth-inch fillet welds secure the connection as specified per plan.
