A twenty-four by twenty-four inch by one-quarter inch thick copper ground dissipation plate is embedded within a bed of engineered fill or metallurgical coke backfill material below finished grade and select compacted native backfill. A number four-zero stranded bare copper conductor connects to the grounding electrode system via an exothermic weld in the center of the plate. The wire contacts the plate exclusively at the center connection point.
