A stair stringer connects to a structural beam via a three-eighths-inch side plate welded with three-sixteenths-inch fillet welds on three sides. A half-inch diameter through bolt is installed in a horizontal long slotted hole within the stringer to accommodate differential movement, maintaining a half-inch gap at the connection. Three-eighths-inch plate stiffeners are welded to the supporting beam flange with three-sixteenths-inch fillet welds on three sides. Slab-on-metal deck per plan bears above the supporting beam.
