Steel framing connections join a supported beam to a supporting girder using both a bolted shear tab and complete joint penetration welds at the top and bottom flanges. The detail shows two conditions: one where the framing beam matches the girder depth, and another where the framing beam is smaller than the supporting girder. A vertical single-plate shear tab is bolted to the web of the beam with multiple rows of bolts. Complete joint penetration welds are specified at both top and bottom flange connections for moment transfer. Member sizes for both beams and girders are sized per structural plans.
