Core penetration procedures through continuous existing steel plates located along structural lines and between masonry walls and concrete bond beams. Existing steel plates may be left in place and core-drilled using dry or wet core methods, with precautions taken to minimize water damage to surrounding finishes. Alternatively, sections of plates at center core locations may be carefully removed without damaging surrounding brick. Where embedded plates are disturbed, brick is replaced in kind or patched with non-shrink grout. Wall tie-through dowels are omitted from this view for clarity.
