A typical slab-on-grade construction joint incorporates a continuous key sized at one-third of the slab depth located at mid-depth of the slab. A number 4 continuous reinforcing bar runs at the edge, supplemented by an optional continuous bar configuration at the contractor's discretion. The joint features a one-and-a-half-inch clearance and a one-eighth-inch radius tooled edge on the concrete surface. A splice per detail two is indicated with one-foot-six-inch dimensions extending outward from the joint interface.
