Two steel beams meet end-to-end at a moment connection reinforced by top and bottom splice plates. The 3/8-inch by 3-inch top plate and 3/8-inch by 5-inch bottom plate span across the joint, welded to the beam flanges with 1/4-inch fillet welds. Framing angles bolted to the beam webs provide standard shear transfer per the referenced typical detail. Roof deck bears directly over the top flange and plate assembly.
