An HSS7x4 hollow structural section post connects to a wide-flange beam above using two L6x4x3/8 angles by nine inches long on each side. Each angle features a three-inch vertical slotted hole accommodating one 5/8-inch diameter bolt that is hand-tightened with damaged threads to prevent nut back-off while allowing vertical movement. A 1/2-inch by 7-inch by 8-inch plate with standard holes is welded to each side. A three-sixteenths inch fillet weld secures the beam assembly as specified on plan.
