Incoming steel beams frame into a vertical steel column using bolted shear tabs while top and bottom flanges receive complete joint penetration welds. At beams of varying depths, a skewed stiffener plate is provided as required to align with incoming beam flanges on the exact sides of the column. Additional complete joint penetration welds connect the flanges typically at the top of the column.
