A non-frame wide-flange column splice is located four feet above the top of the concrete slab. The connection utilizes outside flange plates with thickness matching the flange width minus one, secured with erection bolts per schedule and single shim plates as required. An erection plate with filler plates and erection bolts is welded at the center. Welds include partial-joint-penetration welds along with fillet welds specified on three sides typically.
