This structural plan detail shows a three-eighths-inch expansion joint in a concrete masonry unit wall with a maximum spacing of sixty feet on each side. A three-quarter-inch diameter by two-foot-six-inch galvanized smooth dowel spans across the joint at each bond beam, fitted with plastic end caps on each end and greased to allow lateral movement. Two number eight reinforcing bars run continuously through each bond beam.
