A wide flange column base connection incorporates a three-quarter-inch A36 steel base plate secured with four three-quarter-inch diameter machine bolts. Half-inch stiffener plates are welded to each side of the column web using quarter-inch fillet welds. A half-inch minimum plate shear tab connects to the assembly with a five-sixteenth-inch fillet weld, while three-eighths-inch typical fillet welds anchor the base elements. Additional half-inch A36 side stiffener plates match the width of the column flange above. Edge distance and bolt spacing conform to standard AISC specifications.
