Boundary element reinforcement for a reinforced concrete shear wall incorporates Grade 80 A706 number five ties spaced at four inches on center maximum to satisfy ACI 318-14 section 18.10.6.4 c. The transverse reinforcement consists of continuous rebar hoops or ties as shown, supplementing the typical wall reinforcement indicated on the shear wall elevation. The wall thickness is sized per elevation with equal spacing distributed across the boundary zone.
