A hollow structural section outrigger beam frames into a wide-flange column with the HSS beam notched to fit inside the column profile. A 5/16-inch thick by 8-inch wide by 8-inch long plate is welded to both sides, extended to 1 foot 2 inches long to receive the canopy beam connection. Fillet welds sized at 1/4 inch are specified on three sides at the column connection. The wide-flange column rests on a 5/8-inch by 9-inch by 9-inch base plate secured with four 3/4-inch diameter by 8-inch headed anchor bolts.
