A concrete slab over metal deck bears on a structural steel edge beam with a minimum two-inch bearing width and three-inch minimum clearance. A continuous three-eighths-inch bent plate is welded to the beam with a three-sixteenths-inch fillet weld. Number four dowels measuring five feet long are spaced at twelve inches on center within the concrete slab. A threaded bar splice coupler connects the reinforcement per manufacturer specifications.
