A buckling-restrained brace frames into a steel beam at a floor level via a slotted gusset plate welded to the steel beam, with the gusset and attachment design delegated to the manufacturer. One-half-inch thick stiffener plates are welded to both the near side and far side of the gusset plate with five-sixteenth-inch fillet welds. Additional plate elements connect at the beam centerline work point, while concrete over steel deck bears against the assembly.
