Metal deck direction changes bear across a steel support beam with specific clearance requirements. An 18-gauge closure plate is provided at the transition with a minimum 1.5-inch deck bearing per the schedule. Shear studs are positioned either adjacent to the closure plate or through the metal deck depending on the available clearance dimension 'X'. When clearance 'X' to the closure plate is less than 1.5 inches, the closure is provided below high flutes only with studs placed adjacent to open low flutes.
