An HSS column connects to floor framing using an L4x4x3/8 angle welded with typical three-inch fillet welds on each side. A plate measuring 1/4 inch by 5 inches by 4 inches is fastened with one 3/4-inch diameter A307 bolt with a vertical LSL through plate on each side. Web stiffeners align with the HSS walls and match the HSS wall thickness. A base or cap plate measuring 1/2 inch by 7 inches includes four 1/2-inch diameter by 4-inch studs at 12 inches on center and three number 4 A706 reinforcing bars at 8 inches on center typically at each post.
