An elevator separator beam bears onto a glulam timber framing member via an L8x8x1/2 structural steel angle and a one-half-inch-thick bearing plate. The steel angle connects to the face of the glulam beam using four SDCP22614 screws. A quarter-inch fillet weld secures the hollow structural section to the angle, specified with a three-inch minimum length unless noted otherwise. Three-sixteenth-inch fillet welds attach additional plate components as detailed.
