This connection utilizes a pair of clip angles, one on the near side and one on the far side, to attach a steel beam to a column flange. The angles are shop-welded to the beam web with a 1/16-inch fillet weld on both the near side and far side. The angles are field-bolted to the column flange with three rows of bolts, spaced at 3 inches typical, with a 1 1/4-inch edge distance typical from the top of the angle. A 1/2-inch clearance is maintained between the beam end and the column face. The number of bolt rows is variable based on the specific load requirements as will fit.
