An open web steel joist girder supports a steel beam using a five-sixteenths-inch by four-inch by required bent plate welded on three sides with one-quarter-inch fillet welds. A five-sixteenths-inch plate is centered on the web of the framing member. The connection utilizes a bolted shear tab as indicated by detail two on sheet S8.2.
