An open web steel joist bears directly onto a steel column with a cap plate and welded connections. A three-eighths-inch by four-inch by one-foot-zero-inch required web stiffener is welded to the column web. The bottom chords of the joist are left unwelded to the stabilizer plate unless noted otherwise. Metal roof deck runs continuously across the top of the assembly.
