A structural steel top braced frame connection joins a beam and a diagonal brace to a wide-flange column. The column features a one-quarter-inch thick cap plate attached with a one-eighth-inch perimeter fillet weld. A three-eighths-inch connection plate with standard holes connects to the beam web. The diagonal brace frames into the assembly with a one-quarter-inch weld to the beam web at the working point.
