An existing hollow structural section column bears on a thick rectangular base plate anchored to a concrete footing by four 1-1/4-inch diameter by 3-foot long anchor bolts. Non-shrink grout fills the space beneath the base plate. A shear key consisting of a 2-inch by 5-inch plate by 2-foot length extends downward into the footing from the center of the base plate assembly. New shear tubes are located on each side of the column as gussets occur, with sizing referenced from the structural schedule.
