A hollow structural section beam frames into the web of a wide flange beam using a welded end plate connection. A three-eighths-inch thick plate is welded to the end of the hollow structural section with a three-sixteenths-inch fillet weld. A shim is inserted as required between the end plate and the wide flange beam web. Four seven-eighths-inch diameter bolts secure the end plate to the wide flange beam with standard edge and spacing dimensions.
