This structural detail shows an HSS post bearing on a supporting steel beam or column flange, secured with a half-inch base plate and four three-quarter-inch diameter A325N bolts. Shim plates are inserted as required beneath the base plate for leveling. Three-eighths-inch full-height stiffener plates are welded to each side of the supporting member web with quarter-inch fillet welds on three sides. Additional plan views illustrate the layout at the beam flange for skewed posts and above column cap plates.
