A broken back hollow structural section or channel stair stringer connects to a hanging beam of hollow structural section or channel, with the connection occurring at the centerline of the steel beam. A web stiffener is provided at the steel beam. Hanger members and connections at the top and bottom tie the stair midlanding to the floor beam, all provided by the stair supplier. The stair deck is omitted for clarity, and an adequate alternative proposed by the stair supplier is also acceptable.
