This structural steel connection details a wide flange or hollow structural section column supporting a beam per plan with a cantilever condition. The column capital features a three-quarter-inch plate secured by four three-quarter-inch diameter pretensioned high-strength bolts for a wide flange column, or a plate sized to the column width plus one inch with four bolts for a hollow structural section column. A three-eighths-inch by twelve-inch splice plate is centered on the joint on each side, utilizing A325-N high-strength bolts in horizontal short-slotted holes with sizes and quantities per the schedule. Fillet welds of one-quarter-inch and five-sixteenth-inch sizes are specified on near side and far side as indicated. A maximum one-half-inch gap is maintained at the joint.
