A concrete slab-on-grade bears on a thickened footing and compacted subgrade. The slab is reinforced with number four rebar at twelve inches on center each way, transitioning into the thickened edge with bent reinforcing bars and two additional number four bars in the footing. Anchor bolts such as Hilti KB-TZ2 countersunk bolts at least one-half inch in diameter with a minimum two-inch embedment are anchored into the concrete at least two per side per manufacturer instructions. A landscape finish layer sits above the slab edge, adjacent to an underlying layer of gravel base and compacted earth.
