The supported steel beam connects to the column web using connection plates sized per the structural drawings with thickness and steel grade matching the beam web. Fillet welds of one-half the plate thickness with a one-quarter inch minimum size attach the plates unless noted otherwise. Flanges of the beam are chipped and complete joint penetration welds are ground flush near side as indicated. Dimensional clearances include a five-inch minimum dimension A and one-half the beam depth minimum. Bolt spacings provide one and one-half inch minimum edge and spacing dimensions.
