A post-tensioned beam connection frames into the end of a concrete shearwall with a designated blockout. Beam top and bottom bars, stirrups, and additional reinforcing continue into the blockout area, which is formed and poured at least sixty days after the primary pour. A prepared construction joint with an added screen roughens the surface for bonding. Drag steel and wall reinforcing are placed per plans, and a column with a base plate bears on the upper concrete assembly.
