A low steel beam connects to a vertical steel post sized per plan, positioned below a high beam framing member. A half-inch plate, sized in width to match the column width and depth to match the beam depth, is welded to the post with typical three-sixteenths inch welds. A quarter-inch plate measuring three and a half by four inches ties into the connection with three-sixteenths inch welds on three sides typically. A maximum one-half inch gap is maintained at the beam end connection.
