A wide-flange steel column bears on a base plate atop a concrete foundation or slab, aligned with the centerline of the column and a face of the architectural wall. A buckling-restrained brace connects via a gusset plate sized per the manufacturer, maintaining a two-inch clearance and a one-foot four-inch minimum distance from the edge of the brace to the column centerline. The connection centers on a working point at the intersection of the brace centerline and column centerline, set adjacent to the top of the slab.
