A buckling-restrained braced frame wide flange column rests on a base plate atop a reinforced concrete footing, which sits on an approved subgrade designed to achieve specified bearing pressure. The column base assembly includes anchor rods extending into the footing, while separate soil tension anchors pass through the footing inside one-quarter-inch oversized PVC sleeves. Reinforcing steel is placed throughout the concrete footing with three-inch typical clearance to the exterior faces.
