This structural steel connection detail shows a steel beam framing into an HSS 6x5x1/4 steel column with a 1/2-inch cap plate at the top. A 3/8"x7"x2'-6" weld plate sits on top, supplemented by a 1/4"x6"x0'-6" stabilizer plate. Steel beams attach to the column via shear tabs welded with five-sixteenths inch fillets and bolted with two rows of bolts typical of braced frame connections. Joist bearing plates measuring 3/4"x8"x0'-8" are provided on each side of the column, along with a 3/8"x8"x1'-0" leveling plate centered on the bearing plate. An HSS blocking piece is detailed per separate sheet reference, and the metal roof deck is omitted for clarity.
