This structural section details the head of a masonry wall anchored to an overhead steel beam using an L6x4x5/16 angle brace kicker spaced at five feet on center. The kicker angle is secured to the overhead structure with two 5/8-inch-diameter Hilti KB-TZ expansion anchors through a 1/4-inch plate and connected to the steel beam web using two 3/4-inch-diameter machine bolts at each end. A secondary L6x4x5/16 angle with long leg vertical provides lateral support to the masonry wall head at five feet on center, featuring a 1-5/8-inch oversized hole covered with a 5/16-inch plate washer. Fillet welds of 1/4-inch size secure the gusset and connection plates, with weld returns provided as required to obtain the proper weld length. An angle brace kicker must be provided at the bottom flange wherever beam spans exceed ten feet without perpendicular support, placed at a maximum spacing of ten feet on center.
