A reinforced concrete pit for a loading dock leveler is constructed with a 6-inch concrete slab and base per plan, featuring 6-inch thick concrete walls reinforced with number 4 bars at 12 inches on center each way and number 4 dowels at 12 inches on center. The top edges of the pit receive a 3-inch by 3-inch by 1/4-inch angle embed frame with 1/2-inch diameter by 6-inch long weld stud anchors at 12 inches on center at all pit edges per dock leveler manufacturer specifications. The surrounding 6-inch concrete slab and reinforcing are detailed with a finish floor elevation and minimum 1'-6" bearing extensions on both sides, spanning a clear opening dimension of 7'-1" to be confirmed with the equipment supplier.
