An open-web steel joist is reinforced with an additional diagonal web member consisting of a L2x2x3/16 inch minimum angle. This supplemental member is added when a concentrated load up to one hundred pounds maximum is applied to the joist top chord greater than six inches from a panel point. The diagonal angle spans between the top and bottom chords to transfer the eccentric load.
