A structural steel beam connects to the web or flange of a supporting steel beam per plan using a welded and bolted shear tab assembly. The connection utilizes a 1-3/4 inch thick plate welded to each side of the beam web, secured with eighteen 1-inch diameter A490-X high-strength bolts. Edge distances and bolt spacings are detailed with typical dimensions of 1-1/2 inches and 3 inches. Fillet welds of 1 inch or 3/4 inch size attach the connection plate as indicated on the drawing.
