This assembly connects an L4x4x3/8 angle brace to a steel beam and column using a gusset plate. The brace is welded to the gusset plate with 5/16-inch fillet welds on both sides. The gusset plate is supported by 3/8-inch stiffener plates on each side of the column web, which are attached with 5/16-inch fillet welds. A 3/4-inch by 3/4-inch clip angle is provided at the intersection of the stiffener and the beam flange. The beam is connected to the column via a full-depth shear plate, and a 3/8-inch by 6-inch by 8-inch plate is welded to the underside of the beam to receive the brace, maintaining 1/2-inch minimum clearances. Any additional connections to the brace require approval from the engineer of record.
