A wide-flange steel beam connects to a heavier structural member with tapered flange transitions and continuity plate clips typical at each flange location. The flange width tapers at a two-and-a-half to one minimum slope to match the supporting member dimensions. Continuity plate clips are detailed according to standard structural specifications with a three-inch minimum typical dimension. Weld symbols and specific notes govern the connection configuration.
