A hollow structural section beam connects to a structural post using top and bottom angles measuring L5x4x3/8 by 1'-4" long. The angles secure to the beam using three 7/8" diameter ASTM A325 bolts. Vertical stiffener plates measuring 1/2" thick are welded in four locations with 1/4" fillet welds to reinforce the connection. A 5" diameter bolt access hole is centered in the hollow structural section beam web. The beam is positioned with a 1" maximum clearance from the centerline of the post.
