An HSS diagonal member frames into a five-eighths-inch gusset plate welded to an existing W8x15 beam, which sits above an existing W18x35 beam. The gusset plate is attached with five-sixteenths-inch fillet welds. An existing HSS web member connects above with opposite-hand detailing as required. Metal deck is cut to clear the plate and attached with three-quarter-inch diameter arc spot welds spaced at twelve inches on center.
