A reinforced concrete pier foundation supports a vegetable garden or zen garden post. The foundation measures one foot six inches in diameter with a total depth of four feet zero inches, featuring a top section stepped inward below the finish grade. Vertical reinforcement consists of eight number four bars, supplemented by number four closed ties spaced typically at six inches on center. A minimum concrete cover of three inches is provided at the bottom and sides, with two inches of clearance at the top. The fence post projects upward with a maximum allowable spacing of six feet zero inches on center, while projections exceeding this limit require structural engineer notification for alternate foundation depths.
