A cold-formed steel boxed header connects to king studs using L1 1/2x3x16 gauge angle clips at the top and bottom of the header. Two number 10 sheet metal screws fasten each clip to the header, and four number 10 sheet metal screws fasten each clip to the king stud. A section of track matching the king stud gauge connects the bottom of the header with six number 10 sheet metal screws to the king stud and three number 10 sheet metal screws to each side of the header. Alternatively, contractors may use Simpson SSH header hangers in lieu of the track section and angle clips.
