Cold-formed steel jamb stud openings utilize multi-stud configurations with alternative detailing based on opening widths up to six feet four inches maximum. The three-stud assembly connects studs using two number ten sheet metal screws at twelve inches on center on each face, with welding not required. A three-inch by fifty-four mil continuous strap fastens across the assembly with number ten sheet metal screws at twelve inches on center on each face. A double stud back-to-back alternative is acceptable for jamb stud openings up to six feet four inches wide maximum.
