An HSS post bypasses a steel beam and connects using two one-half-inch galvanized plates with two one-inch-diameter through bolts placed in two-and-a-half-inch vertical slotted holes. A one-inch gap is maintained at the top with an eight-and-a-half-inch vertical dimension separating connection points. A one-quarter-inch fillet weld secures the assembly alongside headed studs welded to the plate. A one-half-inch-thick plate wraps the post profile as detailed in section A-A.
