A non-frame pipe column or hollow structural section tube bears on a base plate atop a concrete footing or pilaster. The base plate is secured with anchor bolts featuring double nuts and hardened washers, bearing on half-inch by four-inch square plate washers typically embedded at the footing depth. A three-inch minimum non-shrink grout layer is provided beneath the base plate. The concrete footing is reinforced with number four ties spaced at six inches on center with a minimum of three ties at the footing.
