Partition wall framing assembly oriented perpendicular to existing steel joists. The assembly uses existing two-by wood sub-purlins supporting the top framing. A Clark Dietrich MaxTrak slotted deflection track featuring a 2 1/2-inch leg and 54-mil thickness is fastened to the framing using two number 10 by 1 1/2-inch wood screws at each two-by joist. Two-by wood blocking is spaced at 24 inches on center and secured with two 16d nails at each end of the existing two-by sub-purlin.
